Community Associations Institute
Since 1987, SwedelsonGottlieb has devoted its practice exclusively to California community association law and has been a respected leader in key industry organizations. Our firm is a Business Partner member of all of the California Chapters of CAI. We regularly attend and teach at those Chapters' monthly education luncheon events, as well as at national CAI events. Our attorneys have spoken at many programs hosted at CAI events, and our attorneys also frequently author articles for the various publications of the California Chapters of CAI.
On a national level, Managing Partner Sandra L. Gottlieb, Esq. represents our firm on the CAI National Faculty, the CAI National Attorneys Committee and the CAI College of Community Association Lawyers. Sandra also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Regional Chapter of CAI, after having served as that Chapter's President, and she is on the Board of Directors and is the current President of the Channel Islands Chapter of CAI. Sandra has received numerous awards from the various Southern California CAI Chapters, including the 2008 May Russell Hall of Fame Award and the 2010 President's Award from the Orange County Regional Chapter. David C. Swedelson is a past member of the board and President of the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of CAI. He was recently elected again to sit on that Board. David is also a past board member of the Channel Islands Chapter, and was a long-time delegate to CAI's California Legislative Action Committee and served on that committee's executive committee. David has also been nominated and awarded Speaker of the Year and Author of the Year for various CAI chapters.
W. Alexander Noland, Esq., an Associate in our office, is Co-Chair of the Programs Committee for the Orange County Regional Chapter. Alex was awarded the 2009 Rookie of the Year award and the 2010 Program Coordinator of the Year award for his work on that Chapter's Programs Committee. Alex has also been nominated as Author of the Year and Committee Member of the Year for this Chapter of CAI, and Alex has spoken at programs for the Channel Islands Chapter as well.
Alyssa B. Klausner, Esq., an Associate in our office, has spoken at various California CAI Chapter programs, including topics related to homeowner bankruptcy and assessment collections in which she specializes.

Managers (CACM)
Sandra L. Gottlieb served
on the Legal Advisory Steering Committee for CACM, teaching community
association managers the legal implications of their work for the last
15 years. In 2010, Sandra completed her second six-year
appointment as Editor of CACM's Law Journal, and she is the designated
attorney on CACM's Professional Standards Committee. In July of 2009,
CACM honored Sandra with its Lifetime Achievement Award for her more
than two plus decades of service to California's community association
industry; Sandra is only the second attorney to have received this
award.
David is also involved with CACM and he
currently serves on CACM's Legislation Committee.
Our
attorneys regularly attend and teach at CACM events and law seminars,
and we attend CACM's annual legislative day in Sacramento. Our
firm's attorneys are members of the CACM faculty and regularly teach
courses for the Certified Community Association Manager ("CCAM")
certification program, including the four California law module courses
and "Ethics for California Community Association Managers," as well as
CCAM recertification classes and advanced courses. |  | Executive Council of Homeowners (ECHO)
Our attorneys
participate in ECHO's annual seminars and legislative advocacy program,
and we regularly author articles for the ECHO Journal. |
